Custom Design
The Weetags circuit and the iButton can be repackaged in different shapes to fit a specific purposes. Alpha Mach is well equipped with design tools from 3D solid modeling to finite element analysis with an in-house fabrication shop where prototype can be made rapidly and inexpensively.

Custom Data Loggers (iButton based)
Very High Pressure Temperature logger
This
data logger was made to record the temperature of a material during its
extrusion process. The casing had to resist at a 2500 psi pressure under
a high concentration of carbon dioxide. Several encapsulating materials
were tried. Top List...
Flat Temperature logger
A
flat version of the iButton was developed to fit a medical prosthesis.
The data logger was used during the testing stage of the project to log
the time when the prosthesis was in use.
Gastric Implant for Large Bird
The
iBEgg was developed as a gastric implant to study the food intake of
large birds. It included one iButton of type 22L. The logger could be
started and data downloaded with the connexion clamp on two contacts at
the base.
Miniature Battery Packs
We
assemble special miniature battery pack for other manufacturer. We have
automated equipment to make good welds on lithium and silver oxide
batteries.
Custom Equipment
Steel Buoy for High Speed Current
Our
client had to build a buoy that could withstand a lot of beating from
the environment, stay upright in very strong winds, 6 knots current and
a depth of only 10 feet.
The buoy was designed with solid modeling. The hull shape was "unfolded"
to generate parts to be laser cut in thin mild steel sheet. Fold lines
position were incorporated in the cut and ensured proper bending of the
plate to the hull shape. Very few structural components had to be used.
Simple and designed for production, it resulted in a strong,
hydrodynamic but still inexpensive product.
The buoy was installed in the St-Laurence river near Montreal. Alpha
Mach was closely involved in its installation.

Underwater Towed Video Inspection Structure

The structure was designed by Alpha Mach. The lamps, power
distributor and video camera housing were designed and fabricated in
house. The structure will be used the the Canadian Hydrographic Survey
to inspect the St-Laurence river bed.
The
structure is light and small enough to be handled by one person. It is
usually lowered with the help of a small hydraulic crane installed
permanently on the workboat.
Sound Speed Sensor Casing

This custom casing is used inside a survey ship to protect a sound speed sensor and allow water pumped from a thru a hull port to pass freely around the sensor. Valves at both ends can be used to adjust the pressure inside the casing.
VR1 Modification for Deeper Water
Our
client wanted to re-use their ultrasonic receiver rated for 200 meters
in an area with a maximum depth of 400 meters.
We designed the modification, ran a finite element analysis to ensure we
got a proper security factor, fabricated a prototype and tested it
entirely in-house. This integration of our capabilities brings excellent
results rapidly and inexpensively.
All sixty modified receivers were tested in our hyperbaric container
before being sent back to our client.
Underwater Lamp System with Wet Mateable Connector
HiPal-1272 Underwater Battery System
-
High
reliability, connector molded with casing, no seals required,
therefore water tightness is ensured - Unbreakable, tough and abrasive resistant rubber encapsulating compound
- Innovative solid state switching circuitry with integral short circuit and over temperature auto reset protection
- Automatic power shutdown when connector is removed, preventing any galvanic corrosion
- Heavy duty fabrication and low cost
- HiPal can be used and recharged in any position
- No possible accumulation of explosive gases
- Dive lamp system with HiPal-1272 battery and High Intensity Discharge projector
Underwater Pluggable Synthetic Rubber Connector
-
Keyed
connector to ensure polarity to your load - Locking lever to prevent accidental disconnection in use
Hyperbaric Testing
Alpha Mach can test products down to 3000 feet (910 meters) in its
hyper baric test container, either for routine tests to ensure there is
no leaks before the instruments are delivered or for investigating
implosion resistance.
-
Quick
open/close lock ring - Motorized cover opening
- Rated for 910 meters (3000 feet)
- Hydraulic pressure (water ethylene-glycol solution) electric pump driven
- Size: 380 mm ID x 900 mm deep (15 inch id x 36 inch deep)
A design can be verified rapidly with our finite element analysis.
Should we find the implosion resistance to be insufficient, we can
propose solutions, prototype them and test the modified equipment in a
timely manner.
